Maybe it’s an area thing, or a class thing, and maybe I’m slightly paranoid, but I surely cannot be alone when I mourn the loss of the words “to the” from simple sentences. There once was a time, a more enlightened time for sure, when simple grammatical rules were followed with an almost religious reverence. Now, our ears are being pummeled by disgracefully Neanderthal “sentences” such as “Yeah, so tomorrow I’m goin’ Pavillions”.
However, this is just the tip of an ever increasing iceberg. How many times have you been violated by pseudo-questions such as “Goin’ maths room?”. This scarcely qualifies as a sentence, and anyone who considers it a full-fledged inquiry is sadly devoid of grey matter.
So fellow tumblrs, take a stand and take pride in the use of correct grammar, and act sneeringly superior to those that don’t. I have to go for now, I need to go to the bathroom.
